About Cable Street Collective
Having spent three summers tearing up the festival circuit with barnstorming sets at the likes of Bestival, Secret Garden Party, The Isle of Wight Festival, Boomtown Fair and the Lake of Stars Festival (Malawi), Cable Street Collective took a summer off in 2016. Now they’re back with a new line-up, new songs and a new sound. Their music mixes African-influenced guitars with dance music beats to create upbeat, festival-friendly tunes. The original core of the band has been joined by DJ and producer Dan Cat (formerly of acclaimed house duo Cheshire Catz), whose pumping, club-inspired rhythms provide the backbone of their new sound.
His beats are bolstered by the addition of Sam McEvoy on percussion. The new rhythm section is rounded out by the addition of bassist Aaron Gregory Brown, son of the legendary afrobeat bassist Greg Kofi Brown (of Osibisa fame). Cable Street Collective will be following up their well-received debut EP, The Best of Times, with further releases this summer, beginning with two new live videos from a session at Hoxton Docks, released in January 2017.
